Discover the vibrant and uplifting visual world of Vonnie Pop Studio.
Based in Sydney, Vonnie is a former marine biologist who transformed her scientific drawing skills into creating commercial art. Thanks to her father, a mechanical engineer who led teams of technical draftsmen, she grew up in a home filled with technical pens, drawing inks, and drafting tools. Despite this environment, Vonnie was originally steered away from art and encouraged to pursue her other passion: science. In addition to her scientific training, Vonnie also studied marketing, eventually channeling her creativity into crafting ideas and developing concepts that were commercialised by major consumer brands.

My work draws inspiration from pioneers like Roy Lichtenstein, whose use of Ben-Day coloured dots as an integral technique to achieve texture and shading. These methods have deeply shaped my ideas. I reinterpret these techniques, remixing dots into vibrant forms that create iconic, energetic imagery.
She is also influenced by Andy Warhol, especially his approach to everyday consumer culture. Like Warhol, she hand-paints her canvases using acrylics and often incorporates silkscreen printing to achieve flat, graphic form. Her signature style include playful takes on popular culture, from board games and beach signs to quirky, jumbled song lyrics.
